NOVA recently had the exciting opportunity to visit with Ms. Kerrie Poirot, 6th Grade Earth Science Teacher, and her students at Awtrey Middle School in Kennesaw, Georgia. We were honored to have this opportunity to share our passion and answer many great questions from inquiring young minds. NOVA experts, Michael Mckenzie, PE and Allison Hackleman demonstrated their love and knowledge of science with the students, as well as the many different career opportunities available in science and STEM.
The feedback we received after our visit was superb. According to Ms. Poirot, “I’ve heard from quite a few of the students that it was really interesting and they enjoyed it. In my four years of teaching Earth Science, I think this might have been one of my favorite days because I got to learn along with the students! You both did an excellent job of making learning about rocks, the rock cycle, and soil relevant in so many different ways. I’d love to continue this partnership.”
At NOVA, we thrive on having the chance to engage with young minds and introduce them to the awesome opportunities available in STEM careers. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the class and getting the chance to talk science with them.
