We are pleased to announce the addition of Nicolás Olazar to our Geotechnical team! Nicolás will fill the role as Field Geologist located in NOVA’s Raleigh, North Carolina office.
Nicolás brings over 13 years of experience to NOVA’s Geotechnical team. He has a wide array of experience as he has fulfilled roles such as hydrogeologist field assistant, mud logging geologist, laboratory geologist, geosteering geologist, and geotechnical field technician.
Some examples of his areas of expertise include: layout of borings and test pits; observation and classification of test pits and soils; classification of samples obtained from drilling operations; reduction of GPS and other geotechnical data for utilization and production; construction materials testing (soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt and structural steel placement), and seismic refraction studies.
Nicolás obtained his bachelor’s degree in Geological Science from U.N.S.L.- San Luis, Argentina. He also maintains certifications in Hazardous Waste Operations/Emergency Response Training as well as Troxler Nuclear Gauge.
During his down time, Nicolás enjoys experiencing activities in the great outdoors and sharing good times with his wife and three dogs. He loves the challenge of a new hiking adventure or just enjoying a walk to take in the fresh air and sunshine.
