Client: Georgia Power
The slope located on along Murray Cove Road near the shore of Lake Burton provides elevation relief from Murray Cove Road and the parking lot for the upgradient Murray Cove Boat Ramp. Over a period of 10 years, multiple sightings of soil cracking and sloughing had occurred along the crest, face, and toe of the slope. After further investigation, an artesian spring was noticed by Georgia Power employees along the slope’s face. The NOVA team remediated the slope using a stone armor system.
Services Provided: Geotechnical Engineering services provided by NOVA included a site reconnaissance, a soil test boring and sampling program, piezometer well installation and monitoring, laboratory testing, and an engineering evaluation, including a limited slope stability analysis. NOVA determined that the global factor of safety needed to be increased for the existing slope.
